This study documents the strategies that six states employ to ensure that college courses offered to high school students are of the same high quality and rigor as courses offered to matriculated college students.

This report finds that young Hispanics and African Americans have made no appreciable progress in postsecondary attainment as compared to their older peers, and attainment rates have dipped for the youngest group (aged 25-34). Divided We Fail: Improving Completion and Closing Racial Gaps in California’s Community Colleges from the Institute for Higher Education Leadership & Policy. This study looks at an alarming trend at California’s community colleges and finds that the vast majority of students hoping to earn an associate degree or a vocational certificate drop out instead.

Efficacy of Schoolwide Programs to Promote Social and Character Development and Reduce Problem Behavior in Elementary School Children from the U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences, National Center for Education Research. This federal study finds that although charter education has grown in popularity among educators and parents alike, doesn’t produce any improvements in student behavior or academic performance.

The State of College Admission by the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). This report provides new evidence for those who believe that applying to college early in the academic year — or, more specifically, submitting applications under binding early-decision programs — increases the likelihood of acceptance.
